About The Position

The purpose of the Phlebotomist Coordinator position is to oversee the phlebotomy and specimen collection in the clinic services and the hospital, in addition to the routine phlebotomy duties of obtaining specimens from patients of all ages with care and concern for patient’s welfare and safety. The Phlebotomist Coordinator will assist the laboratory in preparing specimens for analysis and perform various clerical duties of the laboratory under direct supervision.

Requirements

Degree from a Phlebotomy program which includes an appropriate internship under the direction of a pathologist in an approved laboratory; or previous experience or education in a health-related field.
Ability to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to operate laboratory equipment, such as centrifuge, microscope and computer keyboard/word processor equipment.
Ability to follow detailed blood collection and lab procedures and train for new procedures as needed.
Must satisfactorily complete on-the-job training/orientation.
Successful completion of the pre-employment health screening process required.
Requires the ability to perform at an independent level with minimal direction.
Requires the ability to exercise good judgement and initiative.
Requires the ability to problem solve and make decisions in a variety of situations.
Must be able to attend work site per schedule.
Must be able to work independently.
Valid driver’s license and able to drive vehicle to remote sites.
