The UHealth Laboratories Department in Kendall has an exciting opportunity for a Phlebotomist 2. The Phlebotomist 2 draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records, and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. An employee in this position conducts interviews, takes vital signs, and tests blood samples. The Phlebotomist 2 relates to and interacts well with patients by taking into consideration their age-specific, physical, and psychosocial needs. The incumbent also uses the laboratory and hospital systems to accession data and perform other appropriate system functions. This role involves performing specimen collection services in UHealth draw stations and assigned clinical areas, including venipuncture, urine collection support, and other specimen collection procedures according to established departmental protocols. It also includes verifying patient identity, releasing, collecting, and documenting laboratory orders, reviewing requisitions, preparing, packaging, logging, and transporting specimens, following Blood Bank specimen collection requirements, maintaining awareness of special collection workflows, maintaining adequate supply levels, maintaining accurate logs and records, communicating professionally with patients and staff, following safety and infection prevention procedures, participating in departmental training, and reporting errors or concerns.
