About The Position

The Philanthropy Program Manager serves as the Liaison to the Women's Auxiliary, playing a crucial role in strategizing and implementing initiatives that drive social impact through effective fundraising and relationship management. This position supervises, organizes, coordinates, directs, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Women’s Auxiliary for Area Command Angel Tree programs, ensuring efficient and effective task completion. The role involves cross-training and supporting all office assignments, focusing on targeted deadlines and quality standards. It also includes supervising, organizing, and coordinating Women’s Auxiliary volunteer events/projects for a large Auxiliary, advising and directing volunteers in setting up events/projects, and serving as a liaison to the Women’s Auxiliary by supplying necessary research, reports, and materials.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related field required.
  • Four years progressively responsible experience demonstrating a record of accomplishment in supervising volunteers as well as organizing, coordinating and managing of events/projects, preferable in a non-profit setting, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures and of effective and efficient recordkeeping practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting or bookkeeping practices and procedures including ability to prepare spreadsheets.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate programs, meetings, and special events.
  • Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate a variety of special event strategies.
  • Ability to develop and administer a special events budget.
  • Ability to supervise, lead, motivate, monitor, and evaluate employees and volunteers.
  • Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain reports in an accurate, complete, and timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with Auxiliary volunteers, Salvation Army officers, employees, members of advisory organizations, and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Program Development: Design and implement philanthropic programs that align with the organization's mission and goals, including identifying community needs and developing strategies to address them.
  • Fundraising: Collaborate with the Development Team to develop and execute fundraising strategies to secure donations and grants, involving relationship building with donors and managing campaigns.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, community partners, and other stakeholders to promote the organization’s mission and enhance its visibility.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of philanthropic programs through data collection and analysis, ensuring objectives are met and reporting outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor program staff, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional development and innovation.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Plan, direct, and supervise the work of assigned staff and/or volunteers; train and instruct employees; monitor work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; conduct performance evaluations and provide hiring/firing recommendations. Supervise and assist volunteers in Women’s Auxiliary and Angel Tree program activities. Lead recruitment, screening, training, and onboarding of volunteers. Create and maintain volunteer training materials. Oversee program operations, timelines, and resources. Ensure program activities comply with organizational policies.
  • Liaison Responsibilities: Serve as liaison to the Women’s Auxiliary, supplying research, reports, and materials; coordinate work with committees and provide valuable information. Maintain open communication with Area Command Leadership regarding the Women’s Auxiliary. Serve as a liaison to other departments, coordinating Area Command Leadership’s participation with Women’s Auxiliary members. Receive and screen communications to the Women’s Auxiliary, providing assistance and prioritizing urgent matters. Collaborate with the Development Team to support fundraising strategies. Assist in donor stewardship by providing program information, impact data, and reports. Partner with Development staff and volunteers to strengthen donor relationships.
  • Event Coordination and Implementation Responsibilities: Determine and set dates for events/projects; coordinate details including location and volunteer needs. Coordinate, recruit, and supervise volunteers and/or employees for events/projects. Notify Auxiliary volunteers of all events/projects and maintain records of correspondence. Plan, coordinate, and implement various events and projects related to the Women’s Auxiliary; supervise volunteers. Coordinate administrative processes for events, meetings, seminars, and special projects. Maintain accurate records, member lists, financial documentation, and confidential information. Prepare and present program updates, evaluations, and outcomes. Monitor program performance and outcomes using data collection and analysis. Compile and analyze reports, statistics, surveys, and program data.
  • Office Coordination Responsibilities: Compose, prepare, and type various documents including correspondence, proposals, agreements, programs, newsletters, statistics, budgets, invoices, notices, bulletins, agendas, schedules, minutes, and manuals. Record and distribute meeting minutes. Coordinate and direct administrative responsibilities for Women’s Auxiliary events/projects, Angel Tree, councils, camps, seminars, and special meetings. Prepare and process forms, agreements, invitations, registrations, schedules, assignments, travel, lodging, and meeting room arrangements. Develop and prepare correspondence, reports, programs, booklets, pamphlets, audio-visual transparencies, graphs, charts, lists, and hand-outs. Attend conferences to provide direction and supervision. Respond to questions, research, and provide information based on knowledge of department operations. Maintain confidentiality.
