About The Position

The Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for securing major philanthropic investments in support of the mission and objectives of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England. The Philanthropy Officer will play a critical role in generating support for capital and general operating needs for the organization and serve as the primary moves manager for a portfolio of 100-150 current and prospective major donors. The Philanthropy Officer will work collaboratively across all parts of the organization and develop relationships with board members and staff volunteer leadership activities and groups that aim to stimulate or increase major gift fundraising.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, 3 to 5 years successful experience in major or planned gift fundraising preferred and preferably in healthcare or a combination of comparable education and experience
  • Must be highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts in the six-figure range
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas
  • Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising software programs (The Raiser’s Edge preferred)
  • Must be willing to travel

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage relationships with current and prospective donors, identifying opportunities to secure significant philanthropic support aligned with the organization’s mission.
  • Lead donors through the full fundraising cycle—from prospecting and cultivation to solicitation, stewardship, and long-term engagement.
  • Partner with leadership, volunteers, and colleagues to develop donor strategies and coordinate fundraising efforts across organizational priorities.
  • Provide guidance and insights on donor and prospect strategy, helping strengthen fundraising efforts across the development team.
  • Track donor interactions and maintain accurate records in the donor database to support effective relationship management and reporting.
  • Analyze fundraising metrics, identify major-gift opportunities, and develop strategies to grow philanthropic revenue and donor engagement.
  • Uphold donor confidentiality, ethical fundraising standards, and organizational values while supporting both philanthropic and advocacy-related fundraising initiatives.
