About The Position

The Alberta Cancer Foundation is seeking a Philanthropy Officer, Annual Giving to execute and optimize the Foundation’s annual giving program. This role is crucial for acquiring, retaining, and upgrading donors at scale through multi-channel direct response initiatives. The position contributes to building a pipeline of future mid-level and major gift donors and fostering a culture of philanthropy within the organization. The annual giving program is a significant source of unrestricted income, utilizing direct mail, tele-fundraising, online giving, face-to-face fundraising, and tribute/commemorative giving.

Requirements

  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline (Business, Marketing, Communications) or a combination of education, experience, and training.
  • 5+ years of work experience in a non-profit organization, preferably focused on healthcare philanthropy.
  • Experience working on cross-channel integrated direct response campaigns.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience in Salesforce.
  • Understanding of CRA tax regulations for non-profit organizations.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Driver’s License & access to personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Manager, Annual Giving in planning, executing, and optimizing the annual giving program, focusing on direct mail, digital, and integrated campaigns.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and internal teams to deliver direct response programs, including strategic direction, copy/creative review, and data management.
  • Partner with agencies and internal stakeholders to develop and execute direct mail, email, and digital fundraising campaigns.
  • Oversee and support the execution of monthly giving and tribute programs.
  • Lead the development, execution, and optimization of monthly giving strategies (acquisition, retention, upgrade) in partnership with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Grow tribute giving by enhancing donor experience, communications, and digital offerings.
  • Analyze campaign and appeal performance against benchmarks and KPIs, identifying optimization opportunities.
  • Produce timely reports on campaign performance and results.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on direct response best practices, processes, and protocols.
  • Drive donor acquisition, retention, reactivation, and upgrade strategies across the annual giving program.
  • Analyze donor behavior to increase lifetime value and deepen engagement.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to upgrade monthly and tribute donors into mid-level, major, and legacy giving streams.
  • Support the optimization of donor onboarding journeys.
  • Leverage donor insights and feedback to improve lifecycle strategies and donor experience.
  • Support identification of storytelling opportunities, donor testimonials, and engagement content.
  • Support stewardship strategies through scaled communications and standardized acknowledgment approaches.
  • Maintain meticulous notes and accurate donor records in CRM systems.
  • Ensure data integrity across annual, monthly, and tribute giving records.
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics (revenue, retention, response rates, engagement).
  • Translate data and campaign insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Identify trends, best practices, and opportunities to grow unrestricted revenue.
  • Collaborate with Philanthropy, Marketing, and Stewardship teams for an integrated donor experience.
  • Remain knowledgeable about Foundation priorities, impact areas, and key messages.
