About The Position

The primary objective of this position is to work with the Director of Philanthropy to lead corporate grant initiatives for the San Antonio Food Bank. Key responsibilities include prospect research, grant submissions, reporting, and stewardship. They work across departments to develop budgets and program objectives, ensuring strong and competitive grant applications. The Philanthropy Manager with Grant Writing involves partnering with external stakeholders to identify funding opportunities and working internally with teams in Accounting, Programs, and Marketing/Communications to produce clear, concise, and compelling content. In addition, this role oversees a portfolio of 50 qualified individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations to secure resources such as food, time money, and advocacy. Additional responsibilities include special events, tours and presentations, food and fund drives, cause related marketing, third party events, and other special promotions as assigned by the Director of Philanthropy or Chief Development Officer.

Requirements

  • Three to five years development experience or relevant work experience preferred.
  • Proficient work experience in fund development and marketing strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in computer applications i.e., word processing and spreadsheet/database management.
  • Good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Proven ability to organize work, time, and self.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers and present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
  • Ability to supervise others and delegate appropriate tasks.
  • Night and weekend work is required and routine.
  • Personal vehicle is required.
  • Possession of a current Texas driver's license, liability insurance and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of assigned constituents or grants, including prospect research, cultivation, solicitations, and stewardship
  • Develop relationships and make solicitations for philanthropic gifts, cause-related marketing, food & fund drives, third party events, in-kind donations, sponsorships, volunteer hours, and other engagement strategies.
  • Develop and maintain an Engagement Plan for all areas of responsibility, including both short and long-range goals and objectives, and then work the plan.
  • Maintain complete engagement within the San Antonio Food Bank Salesforce database, keeping records up to date at all times, and utilizing tasks to develop manager portfolio.
  • Responsible for an ongoing thank you program to acknowledge and recognize donors through thank you letters and other appropriate means.
  • Provide status reports each week to the Director of Philanthropy.
  • Coordinate and complete work for various grant programs, meeting with staff to identify and resolve challenges. Collaborate with Programs and Accounting teams to evaluate and revise programming opportunities for funding.
  • Support all Philanthropy events that raise both money and food which includes San Antonio Food Bank signature special events, food & fund drives, third party events, cause-related marketing campaigns, and special promotions that have been approved by the Director of Philanthropy and the Chief Development Officer.
  • Personal face-to-face presentations and/or tours for employee groups, service organizations, religious groups, and others, as directed by Director of Philanthropy and Chief Development Officer (e.g., United Way campaign presentations).
  • Represent the San Antonio Food Bank at a variety of functions within the community.
  • Comply with and abide by all personnel policies and accept additional duties as assigned by the Director of Philanthropy.
