About The Position

Centering Healthcare Institute (“CHI”) is a non-profit organization that collaborates with healthcare providers across all sectors to transform healthcare. Our mission is to improve health, transform care, and disrupt inequitable systems through the Centering group model. We empower patients, strengthen patient-provider relationships, and build communities through three main components: health assessment, interactive learning, and community building. We are dedicated to creating a future where the risk of preterm birth, the inequities faced by Black women in pregnancy-related outcomes, and the disparities in early childhood are significantly reduced—ensuring that every child has the potential to enjoy better life chances, social and economic opportunities, and overall well-being. With over two decades of experience as the leading resource for group care, we have developed and sustained the Centering model in nearly 500 practice sites and some of the largest health systems in the world. CHI is seeking a remote Philanthropy Manager. The Philanthropy Manager is responsible for fundraising, planning, organizing, and managing a donor portfolio to secure five to seven-figure charitable gifts for Centering Healthcare Institute. The primary objectives are to raise financial support by cultivating relationships with individual donors, corporations, institutions, government, state and federal funders, and foundations. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and organizational skills are essential in this role, as fundraising managers work to align donors' philanthropic interests with the organization's goals, fostering long-term partnerships and financial stability.

Requirements

  • Continuous professional development and staying informed to ensure the organization operates within legal frameworks and consistent with the best practices in the field, is required.
  • 3-5 years of sales, fundraising and portfolio management experience
  • Outstanding interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software (Asana or equivalent);
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest ethical standards, including confidentiality and handling sensitive situations and information with the utmost discretion and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the Organization: Attending meetings, conferences, and events to raise funds and promote the organization
  • Develop Fundraising Strategies: Create comprehensive fundraising plans tailored to the organization's needs and goals. Analyze the organization's financial requirements, set fundraising targets, and develop strategies to meet these goals effectively. Manage and execute individual and institution fundraising portfolios.
  • Identify Funding Opportunities: Research and identify potential funding sources, including individual donors, corporations, foundations, state and federal funding. Evaluate these opportunities to ensure alignment with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Cultivate relationships with potential and existing donors. Engage in donor stewardship, expressing gratitude, providing updates on projects, and fostering a sense of connection with the organization. Build trust and credibility to secure ongoing support.
  • Cross-team Collaboration on fundraising Materials: Collaborate with marketing and communication teams to develop compelling fundraising materials, including brochures, newsletters, social media content, and online campaigns, to effectively communicate the organization's mission and impact, encouraging donations.
  • Financial Management: Manage budgets related to fundraising activities, ensuring efficient use of resources. Track expenses, analyze fundraising costs, and evaluate the return on investment (ROI) of various fundraising initiatives.
  • Support Online Giving program, Annual Appeal program and all donor programs
  • Utilization and Monitoring of donor platforms as needed
  • Data Management and Reporting: Maintain donor databases, track donations, and generate reports on fundraising activities. Analyze data to identify trends, assess the success of campaigns, and make data-driven decisions to optimize fundraising strategies.
  • Compliance and Ethical Practices: Adhere to legal and ethical fundraising practices. Stay updated on relevant regulations, such as tax laws related to charitable donations, ensuring the organization's fundraising activities are in compliance with the law.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders, volunteers, program managers, and external partners. Effective communication and collaboration are essential for aligning fundraising efforts with the organization's overall mission and initiatives.
  • Cross Train with Business Development to have a thorough understanding of the Centering Models offered and cross collaboration as needed.
