About The Position
San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is an international, nonprofit conservation organization with two front doors: the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. We integrate wildlife health and care, science, and education to develop sustainable conservation solutions. The Philanthropy Events & Donor Engagement Manager develops strategies and oversees the planning and execution of fund-raising and stewardship events for the Philanthropy Department. This position reports to the Director of Philanthropy Events & Donor Engagement.
Requirements
- 2+ years’ experience in donor relations, development, marketing, public relations or related field required.
- Bachelor's Degree in related field required.
- Knowledge of fundraising, donor relations and stewardship best practices required.
- Able to operate Philanthropy software such as Raiser's Edge, with the ability to generate complex queries, exports and reports.
- Superior communication and persuasion skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with a wide range of constituents, colleagues and personalities.
- Able to operate moderately complex computer software programs.
- Able to creatively produce effective programming for a variety of audiences.
- Able to apply creating thinking in problem solving situations
- Must be proficient in organization and have experience working on multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Able to provide and receive constructive feedback.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for oversight of Donor Engagement Team, including but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training and performance management.
- Strategize, plan, and implement fund-raising and stewardship events for major donors and prospects.
- Carry out details and logistics of all philanthropic events and lead/participate in future event development.
- Establish and negotiate underwriter benefits, identify and solicit underwriting prospects and is responsible for fulfillment of benefits.
