About The Position

Corteva Agriscience is seeking a team-oriented, responsible, and highly motivated Phenotyping Specialist to join their Lubbock, Texas team. This role will support field research across corn, sorghum, and cotton programs, with a strong emphasis on safety and alignment with the company's safety culture. The position does not offer visa sponsorship or relocation assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, or related field
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database systems)
  • Ability to independently solve problems by asking the right questions and identifying key data sources
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality
  • Self-motivated with a “get-it-done” mindset and positive attitude
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Valid US Drivers License
  • Ability to travel overnight seasonally
  • Commitment to safety and the ability to promote a proactive safety culture in field operations

Responsibilities

  • Support next-generation phenotyping efforts, including implementing improved methods and technologies.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of collected data through validation and quality checks.
  • Communicate effectively with local and cross-location research teams to meet timelines and maintain high data quality.
  • Execute multi-crop activities including planting, scouting, phenotyping, threshing, ginning, and harvesting.
  • Collect data using both manual methods and remote sensing technologies.
  • Maintain consistent plot quality and support production of high-quality sorghum and cotton seed.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality seed and data.
  • Actively support and help manage key elements of the site safety program, ensuring alignment with Corteva safety standards.
  • Reinforce a proactive safety culture by identifying risks, supporting hazard mitigation, and promoting safe work behaviors, while actively participating in safety initiatives such as trainings, observations, incident reviews, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Help ensure field activities are planned and executed with safety as the top priority.
  • Organize and supervise part-time and seasonal employees.
  • Promote safe, efficient, and respectful work practices in the field.
  • Monitor research trials and seed production locations throughout the growing season.
  • Communicate field conditions (weeds, crop status, timing needs) to the team.
  • Help ensure timely field operations that result in high-quality data and successful harvests.
  • Utilize Corteva systems and IT tools to manage and process large volumes of data.
  • Maintain accurate records and support data-driven decision-making.
