Remote | PhD Physicist — $70–$90/hour
About The Position
We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for PhD-level Physicists with strong backgrounds in theoretical or experimental physics, scientific research, critical analysis, teaching, and advanced scientific communication to contribute to an AI training and physics-evaluation project. Selected professionals will research advanced physics topics, analyse theoretical and experimental results, review AI-generated physics content, and contribute to educational and evaluation materials. The role is well suited to researchers and educators who can engage deeply with complex physical concepts and communicate them precisely. No prior experience in AI is required.
Requirements
- PhD in Physics or a closely related scientific discipline
- Strong background in theoretical and/or experimental physics
- Demonstrated scientific research experience
- Record of peer-reviewed publication
- Strong ability to analyse experimental data and physical models
- Exceptional critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to scientific and mathematical detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fully remote environment
- No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
- Work must be completed without using confidential, proprietary, unpublished, embargoed, or otherwise restricted information belonging to any employer, research institution, laboratory, collaborator, publisher, or other third party
Nice To Haves
- Experience teaching physics at university or advanced undergraduate level is advantageous
- Experience developing educational or instructional materials is beneficial
Responsibilities
- Physics Research & Analysis: Research fundamental and applied physics topics using relevant scientific literature. Analyse physical theories, mathematical models, assumptions, approximations, and derivations. Interpret experimental data, uncertainty, limitations, and consistency with physical models. Evaluate whether theoretical or experimental conclusions are scientifically supported. Identify conceptual, mathematical, or methodological weaknesses.
- Scientific Problem Solving & AI Evaluation: Solve advanced physics problems requiring multi-step reasoning. Apply appropriate physical laws and mathematical techniques. Review AI-generated physics content for conceptual, mathematical, and logical accuracy. Identify incomplete or unsupported reasoning. Provide structured feedback supporting model improvement.
- Educational Content & Scientific Communication: Develop clear explanations for advanced undergraduate, graduate, or research-level audiences. Contribute to physics-related educational and evaluation materials. Translate complex scientific concepts without sacrificing accuracy. Apply teaching experience to improve clarity and instructional quality. Produce precise written and verbal scientific communication.
- Research Collaboration: Collaborate remotely with multidisciplinary project stakeholders. Incorporate feedback into research and evaluation tasks. Support iterative review and refinement of scientific content. Maintain consistently high standards of scientific accuracy and rigour.
