About The Position

We are seeking a PhD Intern in Trapped-Ion Quantum Computing Theory in our Broomfield, Colorado location. All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test. This role involves applying previous research experience to measure and improve quantum computers using trapped ions as qubits. You will work alongside teams of scientists to bring new concepts to life, collect data on system performance, characterize device characteristics, and propose methods for improvements within a research environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program
  • Graduating on/after December 2026
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status)
  • Must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years’ experience (PhD inclusive) involving one or more of the following areas: atomic physics, quantum benchmarking, quantum information, quantum computing.
  • Experience performing simulation and modeling to inform experiments
  • Experience with constructing quantum circuits
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published results within their field of research
