About The Position

The Phase Maintenance Manager is directly responsible to the Site Manager for setting priorities for the daily maintenance effort of the aircraft and equipment assigned to the Scheduled Maintenance Division through close coordination with Maintenance Control Supervisors. This role involves managing all aspects of aircraft maintenance, ensuring work is scheduled and performed safely and efficiently. The manager will supervise maintenance staff, review employee performance, address personnel issues, generate assignments, and set priorities. Responsibilities include performing scheduled/unscheduled maintenance, servicing, launch and recovery, aircraft and avionics corrosion inspection and treatment, and routine to complex maintenance of aircraft, sub-systems, and components. The role requires reviewing work orders for modifications and upgrades, and potentially releasing aircraft Safe for Flight. The manager must interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and specifications to determine repair methods. They will supervise employees performing electrical system repairs and provide guidance on technical orders, checklists, and hazardous materials. The position is also responsible for maintaining equipment maintenance schedules, monitoring parts and supply inventories, and ensuring material availability. Additionally, the manager will offer technical guidance to engineering staff, provide training on company equipment as required by OSHA, and may supervise aircraft/equipment movement and conduct foreign object damage prevention walks. Customer and senior leadership meetings may also be required.

Requirements

  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills with an ability to supervise a team.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate maintenance work requirements, direct supervisors, mechanics, and technicians in the daily performance of their duties.
  • In-depth knowledge of flight line operations, aircraft/vehicle movement, and safety/hazards.
  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft common and special tools and test equipment, aircraft technical orders/job guides/publications and schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and technical publications, aircraft engine, landing gear, and flight control systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft and avionics corrosion detection and treatment.
  • Knowledge of safe working techniques and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management skills.
  • Competent in the use of a computer, to include Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in an aviation maintenance supervisory position.
  • Ten (10) or more years’ experience in an aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain any company/government required license, certification, or qualification.
  • Must be able to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Advanced Knowledge of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 (series) Maintenance Programs (preferred).
  • Advanced Knowledge of NALCOMIS/OOMA Work Oder process and procedures (preferred).
  • Previously certified Safe for Flight (preferred)
  • Airframe and Power plant (A&P) license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of aircraft maintenance and ensure all work is scheduled and performed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Supervise maintenance staff, which includes reviewing employee performance, addressing personnel issues, generating assignments, and setting priorities.
  • Perform scheduled/unscheduled maintenance, servicing, launch and recovery, aircraft and avionics corrosion inspection and treatment, and routine to complex maintenance of aircraft, aircraft sub-systems, and components, as required.
  • Review work orders regarding modifications and/or upgrades to various aircraft systems.
  • May be required to release aircraft Safe for Flight.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers and company’s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Supervise employees who adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, as required.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to team members concerning technical orders, checklists, and hazardous materials.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment maintenance schedules on all company assets and monitoring parts and supply inventories.
  • Ensure availability of materials, anticipating requirements and reordering.
  • Offer technical guidance to engineering staff regarding start-up of new equipment and follow-up of maintenance programs.
  • Provide employees with proper training on company equipment as required by OSHA Regulations and monitors annual training requirements.
  • May supervise and assist in aircraft/equipment movement.
  • May conduct flight line and hangar foreign object damage prevention walks and housekeeping.
  • May meet with Customers and Company Senior Leadership as required.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
