Pharmacy Technician, Rotating Shifts, Pharmacy
About The Position
Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Pharmacy Technician for our Pharmacy Department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. This role involves preparing and delivering medications, maintaining accurate inventory, and repackaging medications for dispensing. The position includes a 6-week training program designed to introduce Pharmacy Technicians to hospital-based practice, combining classroom lectures, on-site training, unit dose training, IV room training, supervised shifts, and a final exam. Following the training, the position transitions to a standard full-time rotating shift role.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED/equivalent
- Licensure as Pharmacy Technician by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy.
Nice To Haves
- Graduation from an ASHP accredited or PTCB recognized Pharmacy Technician Training Program preferred.
- 1 year of pharmacy experience
- Previous experience with Cerner, Pyxis, Pharmogistics, Carousels.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
Responsibilities
- Prepare and delivers medication to Pyxis
- Maintain an accurate inventory of medications and supplies by performing inventory management cycle counts and Pyxis unit inspections with electronic documentation
- Assess need for and repackage oral solid and liquid medication for dispensing
- Additional duties as assigned
