Under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with standard departmental procedures, prepare medications for patient consumption. Responsibilities include performing duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist, reading and interpreting physicians' orders, transcribing them onto the pharmacy computer medication profile, preparing unit doses, compounding medications, preparing patient prescriptions for dispensing, attending pharmacy tech meetings, removing outdated medications, assisting with billing, checking in orders, and maintaining a clean workspace. The role also requires maintaining competency in caring for patients of all age groups, interacting professionally with patients and customers, and performing other requested duties. Patient satisfaction is emphasized through assisting patients with concern and empathy, respecting confidentiality, and communicating courteously. Teamwork involves assisting in the orientation/training of new team members, working cooperatively, assisting fellow team members, seeking opportunities to help, considering the impact of actions on others, and demonstrating flexibility to perform duties wherever volume deems it necessary. Problem-solving includes demonstrating sound judgment, investigating unusual orders, following proper reporting procedures for incidents, recording the need for equipment maintenance, evaluating work to meet patient expectations, redoing inadequate work, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Productivity and efficiency are achieved by responding flexibly to changing situations, minimizing non-productive time, organizing job functions effectively, and making decisions without direct supervision. Adherence to departmental policies, including infection control, is mandatory.
