About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician practices the profession of pharmacy in an environment that promotes patient care. The role provides friendly, remarkable customer service to support patients’ overall health. It involves interacting with patients, supporting pharmacy initiatives and clinical services, and assisting with prescription processing, medication inventory, ordering, and pharmacy upkeep. The technician must maintain patient confidentiality and meet applicable state registration or licensing requirements, or complete Meijer employer-based training if licensure is not required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Registered and/or licensed as required in the state of practice.
National certification credential for a pharmacy technician (PTCB/NHA).
Excellent customer service skills.
Positive attitude.
Proficient typing skills.
Neat and legible penmanship.
Organizational and prioritization skills.
Teamwork.
Reliable attendance.
Basic math skills.
Effective communication skills.
If state licensure is not required, successful completion of Meijer employer-based training.

Responsibilities

Interact with patients at various service points of contact.
Promote pharmacy initiatives and clinical services to customers.
Enter customer and prescription information into the pharmacy dispensing system.
Create prescription labels and adjudicate insurance claims.
Retrieve appropriate medication from inventory.
Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions and receiving drug orders.
Order prescription medication for the Pharmacy Department.
Stock prescription medication.
Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy with a professional appearance.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Prioritize workload and communicate effectively while serving as an agent of change.
