About The Position

This position is for a 1st Shift (6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) Pharmacy Technician in the Central Fill department within Health and Wellness Central Operations. The role focuses on maintaining medication inventory, supporting facility operations through reporting and paperwork, ensuring the fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions under pharmacist supervision in an automated central fill environment, and maintaining the quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining pharmacy systems and technology, complying with company policies, and completing work assignments effectively. The role emphasizes teamwork, integrity, customer service, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Meets state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, such as minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and tracks medication inventory by sorting, placing, and storing freight in appropriate locations.
  • Restocks and replenishes medication in appropriate locations.
  • Reports low stock levels and ensures stock rotation on a first-in, first-out basis.
  • Performs inventory cycle counts and assists with physical counts for inventories.
  • Creates reports using inventory information systems.
  • Monitors prescription inventory for expired pharmaceuticals.
  • Supports facility with reporting and paperwork to ensure productivity and pharmaceutical integrity.
  • Enters and modifies pharmaceutical data on system and forms.
  • Processes and submits paperwork.
  • Creates and maintains documentation (e.g., files, manuals, forms, records, supplies, communications).
  • Identifies and resolves discrepancies in records or files.
  • Prepares reports of pharmacy activities and inventory.
  • Assists the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process.
  • Stocks and rotates merchandise and supplies from distribution centers and suppliers.
  • Handles claims and returns.
  • Completes, maintains, and secures paperwork, forms, and other required documentation.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Ensures fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist in an automated central fill pharmacy.
  • Uses a scanner to identify and select pharmaceutical product and quantity for prescription orders.
  • Verifies the size and strength of the product before processing the order.
  • Verifies display for pack and quantity.
  • Enters expiration date and lot numbers.
  • Labels prescriptions.
  • Weighs medication for accuracy of quantity.
  • Counts or pours medication for prescription orders.
  • Prepares packages and distributes medications in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Replenishes automated counting machines.
  • Maintains quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory (e.g., pharmaceuticals, supplies) by utilizing automated inventory control scanner and system.
  • Tracks and ensures the timely and appropriate delivery and stocking of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
  • Ensures adherence to and documentation of inventory control procedures (e.g., product strategies, product description discrepancies, auditing and testing pill cell performance per prescribed schedule and procedures).
  • Manages pill cell information database.
  • Troubleshoots issues with pill cell performance.
  • Identifies and properly discards hazardous waste.
  • Processes recalled and expired pharmaceuticals.
  • Disposes or processes return of outdated stock for credit.
  • Maintains pharmacy systems and technology (e.g., inventory systems, automated medication counting machines).
  • Prepares informational and related records and reports to ensure accurate data and system compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Monitors inventory levels and expiration dates for pharmaceuticals.
  • Calibrates machines.
  • Applies settings to pill or capsule specifications to minimize breakage.
  • Ensures medications are continuously replenished by utilizing the computer and scanner screen.
  • Troubleshoots pill cell issues (e.g., jamming) throughout production.
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources.
  • Collaborates with managers, coworkers, customers, and other business partners.
