About The Position

Southwest Care Center is a non-profit, FQHC-LAL providing medical, behavioral health, case management, community outreach, diabetes education, and pharmacy services. We are proud to offer gender equity medicine, syringe exchange, and HIV/HepC treatment, testing and other services within our communities. Southwest Care Center is currently seeking full-time Pharmacy Technician to support its Alameda Clinic in Santa Fe, NM.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Valid Pharmacy Technician license from the NM Board of Pharmacy (can obtain upon hire)
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate from PTCB (can obtain upon hire)
  • Maintains BLS Certification (current certification a plus)

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of healthcare or pharmacy experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participates in all aspects of filling prescriptions.
  • Performs clerical work to maintain pharmacy standards and legal requirements within the scope of practice outlined by the Board of Pharmacy.
  • Interacts with patients and provides excellent customer service to coordinate safe and effective medication practices for patients.
  • Models professionalism, meets expected performance levels, demonstrates the values of the organization, and provides patient-focused services.
  • Serves as a patient advocate using good judgment, initiative, critical-thinking, and effective communication at all times.
  • Maintains and updates patient profiles and prescription files.
  • Enters prescriptions into electronic system efficiently and accurately.
  • Fills prescriptions and coordinates auto refill for applicable patients.
  • Prepares packages for shipping and delivery.
  • Files prescriptions and paperwork.
  • Complies with 340B, Aid & Comfort, Board of Pharmacy, DEA requirements.
  • Answers pharmacy phone calls, returns calls to patients, maintains voicemail.
  • Communicates with insurance companies/manufacturers to resolve coverage issues, initiates prior authorization process, activates manufacturer co-pay cards.
  • Documents in appropriate databases.
  • Runs register, coordinates billing, and balances cash at end of day.
  • Activates patient assistance and copay assistance cards.
  • Reorders and restocks drug and related materials necessary to operate the pharmacy and verifies receipt against invoices.
  • Runs and interprets pharmacy reports.
  • Processes returns to inventory as well as to distributor.
  • Returns expired drug to reverse distributor.
  • Attends meetings required for position (i.e., Department meetings, all-staff meetings, multi-disciplinary team meetings).
  • Maintains a work environment conducive to excellent customer service and acts in a professional manner in the workplace.
  • Participates in clean-up as appropriate.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled and ad hoc inventories as directed.
  • Works with other SCC departments as appropriate to promote exceptional integrated patient care.
  • Completes other pharmacy related duties as assigned.
