About The Position

The Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) Pharmacy Technician serves as a primary point of contact for patients, providers, and internal teams, supporting the coordination of specialty medications and ensuring timely access to therapy. This role is responsible for managing incoming prescriptions, maintaining patient profiles, supporting prior authorization and insurance workflows, and delivering a high level of customer service throughout the patient journey. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, and patient-focused environment, with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple workflows.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Active Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy registration as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, or healthcare setting
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn pharmacy systems
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in specialty pharmacy, prior authorizations, or insurance verification
  • Familiarity with specialty medications and patient support workflows
  • Experience with pharmacy systems (SuiteRx, Framework, PrimeRx, or similar)
  • National certification (CPhT) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Input patient data and specialty medication orders into pharmacy systems (data entry)
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned patients, providers, and facilities
  • Coordinate with internal teams, providers, and payers to support timely medication access
  • Support prior authorization, insurance verification, and benefits investigation workflows
  • Process inbound prescriptions, faxes, and documentation; update patient profiles accordingly
  • Maintain open communication with providers to clarify prescriptions and resolve issues
  • Track and follow up on pending prescriptions, authorizations, and documentation
  • Assist with medication fulfillment, packaging, and labeling as needed in accordance with state regulations
  • Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements
  • Participate in inventory activities and assist with returns processing when applicable
  • Provide high-touch customer service to patients and healthcare providers
  • Assist in training new employees and support team members as needed
  • Escalate issues or concerns to the Pharmacy Manager promptly
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to inquiries professionally
  • Perform other duties as assigned
