The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical services, including processing prescriptions, in compliance with applicable State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Duties are limited to those allowed by the Board of Pharmacy and are checked by a pharmacist before products are released. The role works under close supervision and is entry-level for a minimum of six months to about one year, regardless of experience gained elsewhere. The technician enters medication orders, operates automated dispensing and inventory equipment, maintains medication inventory and records, receives and inspects stock deliveries, performs inventory counts, reconciles discrepancies, monitors expiration dates, and prepares, packages, compounds, and labels non-sterile drug products subject to pharmacist checks.
