About The Position

Angell Animal Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join their team. This full-time position requires knowledge of MA Board of Pharmacy regulations and previous retail pharmacy practice experience. The role involves managing pharmacy phone calls, processing medication refill requests, communicating with veterinary staff about prescriptions, filling medication and prescription food orders, and flavoring pet-friendly medications. This is a unique opportunity to transition retail pharmacy skills into a veterinary hospital setting.

Requirements

• Knowledge of MA Board of Pharmacy regulations
• Previous retail pharmacy practice experience
• Ability to work weekends and some holidays
• Mandatory regular attendance and punctual presence
• Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time (67%-100% of scheduled shift)
• Must be able to constantly move about within the pharmacy (67% - 100% of scheduled shift)
• Must be able to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms (answering telephone, typing, writing, labeling, retrieving labels/paper from printer) (34-67% of scheduled shift)
• Must be able to frequently retrieve and return items (up to 15 lb.) from/to a shelf above eye level or below knee level (34%-67% of scheduled shift)
• Must be able to frequently lift and carry bags of food up to 30 lb. over short distances (10-20 feet) and move them from one shelf to another (34% to 67% of scheduled shift)

Responsibilities

• Answering and addressing pharmacy phone calls
• Processing medication refill requests
• Relaying medication orders to outside practices
• Communicating with veterinary staff regarding prescription orders
• Filling medication and prescription food orders
• Flavoring various pet friendly dosage forms following basic pharmacy practice
