About The Position

South Country Co-op is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our 13th Ave Pharmacy team in Medicine Hat, AB. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about customer service and thriving in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist on Duty and is crucial in delivering safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy services. Key responsibilities include preparing and processing prescriptions, assisting with patient care, filling and checking prescriptions, and ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements. The position also emphasizes significant patient interaction to build strong relationships and contribute to positive health outcomes.

Requirements

  • Completed a Pharmacy Technician Diploma program
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (required)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel) is an asset
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, attention to detail and decision-making skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Must be self-reliant, goal-oriented, and adaptable to new technology
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, and professionally at all times

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Kroll Pharmacy Software is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, fill, and check prescriptions in accordance with provincial regulations and under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering inquiries and assisting patients with their pharmacy needs
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records
  • Ensure compliance with all professional and legal standards set by the Alberta College of Pharmacy
  • Assist in inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and organizing medications and supplies
  • Support pharmacists with administrative and technical tasks as permitted by provincial guidelines
  • Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment in a safe and effective manner
  • Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and patient privacy at all times
  • Contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy work environment
  • Participate in ongoing learning and professional development opportunities
