About The Position

Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice roles are patient-centric positions focused on customer interaction and building strong patient relationships. Walgreens offers an “earn while you learn” Pharmacy Technician Training Program recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor. The program provides courses, learning activities, resources, foundational and advanced knowledge, and on-the-job experience to prepare apprentices to become certified pharmacy technicians. It supports participants in pursuing Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and maintaining the skills required in pharmacy care. Under the pharmacist’s direct supervision and in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies, the technician assists with pharmacy practice and department duties. The role uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions, supports pharmacy operations and inventory management, and provides a positive customer experience. Technicians earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or any state-required certification or registration; otherwise, PTCB certification is required as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
