Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification from an approved technical school or a minimum of six months of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification
  • Ability to complete required 340B University training within the first two weeks of employment and maintain annual renewals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic health records
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and ability to perform basic pharmacy math

Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare and dispense medications in accordance with pharmacy SOPs
  • Identify medications from stock, count correct quantities, and prepare prescription labels
  • Verify patient eligibility with insurance plans and third-party payers and calculate costs as needed
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to routine questions, escalating complex inquiries to the pharmacist
  • Assist with patient education materials under pharmacist supervision
  • Support refill authorization requests and communication with providers and care team members
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with quality control and quality assurance activities
  • Manage daily pharmacy operations, including inventory, supplies, and cash handling
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Florida Board of Pharmacy regulations, and all state and federal requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
  • Promote positive relationships with patients, visitors, and the community
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of Tampa Family Health Centers
