About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician at Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton VA. This role involves performing care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. Responsibilities include filling and delivering medications, ensuring adequate supplies, triaging and escalating issues, using appropriate systems for patient information, maintaining quality assurance, and operating pharmacy equipment. Additional duties may be assigned. Sentara CarePlex Hospital is a 224-bed acute care facility in Hampton, VA, known for its specialized services and advanced capabilities.
Requirements
- A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice
- Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)

- CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB)
- Previous Pharmacy Experience
Responsibilities
- Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
- Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
- Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
- Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
- Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
