About The Position

NeighborHealth, formerly East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, is a large community health center serving the greater Boston area with a commitment to patient and community health. Every role at NeighborHealth is vital, from direct care providers to support staff, all working together to advance medicine and deliver the best care experience. This Pharmacy Technician position provides support and assistance to clinical staff in managing medication ordering and delivery. The role involves full-time hours, Monday-Friday, with rotating evenings, nights, and weekends. The technician will communicate with patients, co-workers, insurance companies, and prescribers, proactively identifying and resolving potential problems with compassion and care. Working as part of a team, the technician will fulfill prescription orders from start to finish, understanding each workstation. Adherence to Federal and State laws (e.g., HIPAA), regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles is required. As permitted by state law, certified and trained technicians may expand their clinical and managerial responsibilities. Outstanding customer service skills are essential when interacting with patients, providers, and others. The position promotes teamwork through self-direction and self-motivation, with the ability to solve problems independently or seek consultation, and potentially provide leadership to other support staff. Continuous professional growth and development are expected.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • Current valid and unrestricted pharmacy technician license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy.
  • Must have completed Pharmacy Technician Trainee requirements.
  • Ability to work on a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Basic reading and math skills.
  • Computer proficiency with an electronic medical record.
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish speaking preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support and assistance to clinical staff in the management of medication ordering and delivery.

  • Displaying outstanding customer service skills when interacting with patients, outside providers, referral sources, or others.
  • Promoting a sense of “teamwork” through demonstration of self-direction and self-motivation.
  • Solving problems independently or knows when to seek consultation.
  • Providing leadership to other support staff on the practice team.
  • Working cooperatively and respectfully with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Responsible for continued professional growth and development.
  • Reads, understands and complies with all Standards of Conduct, JCAHO policies, etc.
  • Adheres to NeighborHealth standards of Employee Conduct and all related policies and procedures.
