About The Position

Equitas Health Pharmacy is seeking a Part-Time Pharmacy Technician to join their team in Dayton. This role is crucial in providing excellent customer service and ensuring the accurate and efficient processing and filling of prescriptions. The technician will play a key part in managing pharmacy operations, including inventory, insurance verification, and working with healthcare providers and insurance companies to facilitate patient care. The position requires a strong understanding of pharmacy laws and best practices, particularly within the context of specialty pharmacy and the 340B program. A commitment to cultural competency and providing services with unconditional positive regard to clients and staff is essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Thorough understanding of pharmacy operations and laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health and social service needs of persons with HIV/AIDS.
  • Must have sensitivity to, interest in, and competence in cultural differences, HIV/AIDS, minority health, sexual practices, chemical dependency and demonstrated competence in working with persons of color, and the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and other computer applications.
  • Reliable transportation, driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
  • Certified pharmacy technician preferred.
  • Two years pharmacy technician experience preferred with a preference for specialty pharmacy or 340B pharmacy experience.
  • Preferred previous experience with the PioneerRx operating system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to Equitas Health Pharmacy patients.
  • Process prescriptions accurately and efficiently, including collecting patient information, insurance verification, and processing orders with detail and accuracy to ensure the lowest out-of-pocket cost for the patient.
  • Fill prescription orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring all items are filled and staged for pharmacist checking in a prioritized manner.
  • Collaborate with the Equitas Health Medical Center and other pharmacy employees.
  • Act as a positive representative of Equitas Health Pharmacy when interacting with outside vendors and clinics.
  • Complete daily paperwork and processes related to technician duties to manage pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Assist in managing Equitas Health Pharmacy inventory systems for medication acquisition, control, dispensing, and reconciliation in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with physicians’ offices and insurance companies to obtain prescription authorizations and prior authorizations.
  • Master Ohio HIV Drug Assistance Program (OHDAP) and 340B program intricacies and policies.
  • Demonstrate unconditional positive regard to clients and conduct all job responsibilities with a focus on exceptional customer service.
  • Continuously grow and develop cultural competency, showing understanding, awareness, and respect for diversity.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating unconditional positive regard to all Equitas Health employees, interns, etc., with an understanding, awareness, and respect for diversity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy Services or Pharmacy Manager.
  • Fulfill any other responsibilities as defined in the Equitas Health Pharmacy Operations Manual.

  • Hourly Rate: Starting at $20.43 based on Technician Registration Status with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy
