This role involves assisting patients with prescription drop-offs, ensuring accurate patient and insurance information is captured and entered into the computer system. The Pharmacy Technician will communicate with insurance carriers for payment, and assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in accordance with regulations and company policies. Key duties include filling and labeling prescriptions, communicating with prescribers for new or refill prescriptions, and participating in a team-based approach to Pharmacy Medication Management. The technician will verify prescription accuracy at the point of sale, manage pharmacy inventory by monitoring stock, anticipating needs, placing orders, verifying receipts, and removing outdated drugs. Additional responsibilities include completing supply requisitions, answering phones promptly, responding to routine questions, and referring calls appropriately. The role also involves compounding ointments and creams, pre-packaging bulk medications, and assisting other pharmacy staff to maintain workflow and a clean work area.
