The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing and distributing medications for patient consumption under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with standard departmental procedures. This role involves drug distribution and intravenous admixture throughout the hospital and/or infusion center, competency in automated dispensing systems, and ensuring medications are appropriately barcoded. The technician will also maintain accurate controlled substance inventory, prepare and dispense medications accurately and efficiently, and be certified in chemotherapy preparation practices. Additionally, the role includes generating revenue through billing, maintaining a safe and clean pharmacy environment, documenting pharmacy logs, completing monthly expiration medication assignments, and repackaging/unit-dosing medications. Competency in aseptic technique and appropriate use of technology such as Cerner, Power Chart, and Pyxis for workflow management is essential. The technician will also assist healthcare providers with phone calls and manage time effectively to maintain shift-specific workflow, prioritizing responsibilities appropriately. Performs other duties as assigned.
