About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician position performs many pharmacy-related functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and performs all administrative functions of the department that do not require professional judgment or extensive technical training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pharmacy technician registration is required or obtained prior to starting employment.
  • BLS required or obtained within 3 months.
  • 1+ years related work experience required.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
  • Intermediate to expert proficiency with computers is required.
  • Knowledge of drugs, maintaining a sterile field, and handling hazardous materials.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical competency.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmacy Technician certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders.
  • Enters prescription refills into the computer.
  • Creates a profile of the patient's health and insurance information in the computer or updates the patient's profile.
  • Verifies that the customer receives correct prescription(s) at point of sale.
  • Completes daily distribution center medication orders, places orders on shelves, and verifies all associated paperwork.
  • Communicates with the Pharmacy Assistant to perform additional purchasing and special inventory control activities, placing orders where approved.
  • Assists the pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptions, leaving dispensing container and bulk container for pharmacist verification.
  • Prepares the pharmacy inventory.
  • Screens telephone calls for the pharmacist.
  • Compounds oral solutions, ointments, and creams.
  • Prepackages bulk medications.
  • Packages and labels unit dose drugs under supervision and final appraisal of the pharmacist.
  • Maintains knowledge of loss prevention techniques.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
  • Processing adhere pack refills every month or if indicated, every 90 days.
  • Ensuring profit margins and working rejections to ensure payment.
  • Close monitoring of Adhere pack patients profiles to ensure medication accuracy and adequate refills.
  • Contacting prescribers via fax or by phone to obtain refills for patient.
  • Running reports to ensure adequate stock for Adhere pack patients.
  • Ordering medications through the drug distributors.
  • Monitoring adhere pack patient charge accounts.
  • Reporting delinquent accounts to pharmacy manager.
  • Communicate with adhere pack patients regarding bills, issues, or any other information regarding their medications.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
