About The Position

This position is for a Pharmacy Technician in a Central Fill setting, working the 3rd shift (8:00 p.m. - 08:00 a.m.). The role involves supporting pharmacy operations through inventory management, prescription fulfillment, reporting, quality assurance, and maintaining pharmacy systems and equipment. The technician will work within an automated Central Fill Pharmacy, ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment of prescriptions while adhering to all regulatory and company standards. The position also emphasizes teamwork, ethical decision-making, and contributing to a safe and compliant work environment.

  • Meets state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, such as minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and manages medication inventory by receiving, sorting, storing, restocking, and replenishing pharmaceuticals.
  • Ensures proper stock rotation using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.
  • Performs inventory cycle counts and assists with physical inventories.
  • Monitors stock levels, reports low inventory, and utilizes inventory management systems.
  • Maintains accurate records, completes required documentation, and ensures compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Enters and updates pharmaceutical information in inventory systems and processes required paperwork.
  • Prepares operational and inventory reports and identifies discrepancies or process inefficiencies.
  • Supports the pharmacist in the accurate and timely fulfillment of prescriptions within an automated Central Fill Pharmacy.
  • Uses barcode scanners and automated systems to identify medications, verify product strength and quantity, and enter expiration dates and lot numbers.
  • Labels prescriptions, weighs medications for accuracy, counts or pours medications, and packages prescriptions.
  • Replenishes automated counting machines and maintains a continuous workflow to achieve daily production and quality goals.
  • Maintains the quality, accuracy, and integrity of pharmaceutical inventory by utilizing automated inventory systems and scanners.
  • Follows inventory control procedures, audits product information, and tests automated pill cell performance.
  • Manages pill cell databases, processes recalled and expired medications, and properly disposes of hazardous waste.
  • Coordinates the return of outdated inventory for credit.
  • Maintains pharmacy technology and automated equipment by monitoring inventory systems and automated medication counting machines.
  • Calibrates equipment, applies appropriate settings to minimize medication breakage, and monitors expiration dates.
  • Ensures continuous replenishment of automated dispensing systems and prepares required reports.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues, including pill cell jams and production interruptions.
  • Assists pharmacists in delivering products and services in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Stocks and rotates merchandise, processes claims and returns, and maintains required documentation.
  • Contributes to a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
