Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months of Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience required.
• Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with state of Maryland.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
• Maintains continuing education requirements

Responsibilities

• Assisting central pharmacists and technicians in the delivery of medications and pharmaceutical products under direct supervision of a Pharmacist.
• Documenting and updating documentation on various pharmaceutical products that are loaded in the automated dispensing machines.
• Communicating with pharmacy staff and nurses about medication when necessary and appropriate.
• Preparing medications accurately in accordance with prescriptions and medication orders.
• Assisting in the preparation of sterile and non-sterile compounds.
• Maintaining accurate records, including labeling, documentation, and tracking of medications.
• Supporting inventory management by ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies.
• Delivering medications to patient care areas following established procedures.
• Monitoring expiration dates and removing expired medications from inventory.
• Handling hazardous medications in compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Communicating effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
• Reporting medication errors or potential issues in accordance with guidelines.
• Maintaining and cleaning pharmacy equipment and automation systems.
• Participating in ongoing education and training programs.
