The Pharmacy Technician is an entry-level position. Following a training period, the Technician should be able to decipher and enter orders on the computer, compound IVs, charge and credit, fill orders, answer phones and doors, and stock the department. This role involves running reports, pulling medications, restocking Automated Dispensing Machines, and following up on narcotic discrepancies. The technician will also compound IV and piggyback medications using aseptic technique and universal precautions, following USP 797 guidelines. Responsibilities include running labels, filling and reconciling medicine carts, repackaging non-unit dose medications, and stocking floor stock, EMS boxes, crash cart trays, and anesthesia carts. Additional duties include compounding oral and topical solutions, answering phones, retrieving tubes and faxes, and adding barcodes to products using specific software.
