About The Position

This is a Per Diem Pharmacy Technician position. Responsibilities include assisting pharmacists with various tasks such as preparing medication cassettes, processing physician orders, performing inventory management, and handling billing and crediting of drugs. The role also involves maintaining pharmacy stock, compounding IVs when needed, and responding to various pharmacy-related requests.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Eighteen years of age or older
  • Basic typing or computer skills

  • Previous hospital/pharmacy experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in specific job responsibilities
  • Lay out supplies on floor stock requisitions for final verification
  • Serve as courier for deliveries
  • Fill patient medication cassettes to be ready for pharmacist
  • Assist in employee prescription processing
  • Receive and process physician orders
  • Perform inspections of nursing units and clinics for outdated medication and storage
  • Fill and restock Omnicell as per daily report
  • Deliver and exchange patient carts
  • Exchange Anesthesia carts twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays
  • Answer phones, receiving and relaying messages
  • Compound IV's when needed
  • Resolve any Omnicell/Mak issues that arise from the night before and on day shift
  • Enter and prepare pre-op orders, sign orders and give to pharmacist for validation
  • Respond to window requests
  • Review and correct CEWL (Charge Error Work List)
  • Audit Charts for corporate compliance
  • Assume specific inventory responsibilities
  • Maintain inventory levels
  • Charge units for requisitioned supplies
  • Unpack daily delivery from wholesaler
  • Update prices on formulary from wholesaler invoice
  • Charge or credit patients for administered or returned doses
  • Process/file returns
  • Process/file credits
  • Submit invoices from wholesaler to purchasing for payment
  • Perform duties as assigned by the pharmacist
  • Respect and preserve patient confidentiality
  • Attend in-service training
  • Report to work as scheduled with minimal absences
  • Make economical use of time, supplies and resources
  • Responsible for all billing/crediting of drugs from Pharmacy department and other departments if necessary/warranted
