About The Position

Supports pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include helping healthcare providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone, answering questions and requests, and referring inquiries to the pharmacist. Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking stock, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs. Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, and prepping compounds for pharmacist admixtures when needed. Maintains records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions. Generates revenues by calculating, recording, and issuing charges. Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments. Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Assists with the copay assistance program and understands and explains the purpose and importance of 340B within the organization. Works on numerous projects surrounding 340B and growing the pharmacy in compliance with statute.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of pharmacy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with pharmaceutical technology and equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and phone systems, as well as MS Excel/Word/Outlook, Electronic Health Record systems and automated medical scheduling and billing programs.

  • Satisfactory completion of Pharmacy Technician Certification Program
  • 1+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye–hand coordination
  • Standing and walking frequently and occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical setting
  • Some travel within western North Carolina
