The Pharmacy Technician works only under the direct, immediate, personal supervision of a pharmacist and supports pharmacy operations through handling medication containers, counting and packaging pills, tablets, and capsules, preparing labels, maintaining pharmacy records, and entering prescription, drug-order, and patient-profile information. The technician also answers calls and forwards them to the pharmacist when necessary, and performs other assigned duties. The role is subject to restrictions: the technician may not accept or transcribe oral orders or telephone prescriptions, enter or remain in the pharmacy when a pharmacist is not on duty, exercise independent professional judgment in pharmacy practice, or perform duties before being trained and the duties specified in written protocol. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the State of Pennsylvania, and medical terminology knowledge. Additional desired qualifications include six months of experience in a medical office environment, understanding of medical procedures and terminology, patient-management skills, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to interact effectively with doctors, patients, and coworkers. The role involves physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, working with arms extended, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Excelsia Injury Care describes itself as an outpatient injury-care provider with more than 100 patient care centers across several regions. The posting advertises a sign-on bonus, though it lists different amounts in the title and body.
