About The Position

Fairview Range is hiring a Pharmacy Technician for our inpatient Pharmacy Team in Hibbing, MN. The Pharmacy is an integral part of our care team. Based within the hospital, our Pharmacy supports patient care in inpatient, emergency, and oncology/infusion settings as well as supporting outpatient vaccine programs. Our team manages patient medications, mixes medications on demand, and acts as a resource for the facility. As a Pharmacy Technician you will be a vital part of this department from providing technical support to clinical duties. This position performs unit dose cart fills, prepares sterile products such as chemotherapy and IV admixtures, and distributes medications and supplies as needed throughout the facility. The successful candidate will be adaptable in a fast-paced environment. About this unit: Department of approximately 16 staff. Teaching institution for Pharmacist programs. 24/7 support through M Health Fairview Pharmacy Part of multidisciplinary care team.

Requirements

  • Background in math
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) within 1 Year
  • Technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy required prior to employment and maintain registration.

Nice To Haves

  • A pharmacy technician training program offered by a board-approved, accredited vocational/technical institution or college
  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of sterile products.
  • Demonstrate ability to accurately compound IV admixtures according to policies and procedures.
  • Follow sterile technique in IV admixture preparation.
  • Ensure adequate stock of drugs and supplies is maintained in admixture area.
  • Maintain appropriate records for documentation of drug preparation and cleaning of IV room/area.
  • Select appropriate medication for cart refill, according to prepared fill list.
  • Maintain accurate charges/credits for floor stock and refill medications orders.
  • Package bulk meds into U/D strip package as needed.
  • Ensure drug storage areas and equipment are kept clean.
  • Promptly and accurately fills request for floor stock supplies.
  • Checks in drug stock and maintains adequate supplies for all working areas.
  • Places drug orders, processes invoices, and returns stock for credit.
  • Completes routine checks of floor stock and crash carts for authorized drugs, quantity, and expiration dating.
