About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician I assists pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications and are accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for the care and safety of the patients served by the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician I assists pharmacists in the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of medications while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, this role plays a vital part in maintaining patient safety, medication accuracy, and efficient pharmacy operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Active, good-standing registration with the State Board of Pharmacy or Willingness to submit a registration application by the first day of employment, including fingerprint submission for an FBI background check
  • One year of relevant pharmacy experience preferred, but not required
  • Successfully complete all required pharmacy department orientation and training
  • Advanced knowledge and use of pharmacy equipment and automation technology
  • Proficiency with pharmacy workflow management systems
  • Ability to operate robotic dispensing equipment and automated dispensing cabinets
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for automated pharmacy technology and software systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to medication safety
  • Ability to work efficiently under time constraints while maintaining accuracy
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with a patient-focused approach

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications
  • Support daily pharmacy operations while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
  • Operate and maintain pharmacy automation systems and dispensing technology
  • Utilize robotic dispensing equipment and automated dispensing cabinets as applicable
  • Perform initial troubleshooting of automated pharmacy technology and associated software
  • Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Help ensure the highest standards of patient care, safety, and service
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines
