About The Position

Walgreens Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Technician Apprentice roles are patient-centered positions that involve interacting with customers, building patient relationships, and supporting pharmacy operations. Walgreens provides an earn-while-you-learn training program recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor, with courses, learning activities, resources, and on-the-job experience designed to prepare apprentices to become certified pharmacy technicians. The program supports earning and maintaining a nationally recognized Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) credential. Under the pharmacist’s direct supervision, the Pharmacy Technician assists in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies. The role uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions, while helping provide a distinctive customer experience. Technicians also support pharmacy workflow, inventory, clerical work, and other department duties. PTCB-certified technicians may assist with and coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in operating pharmacy systems and registers.
