About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for preparing, labeling, and packaging medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role involves processing prescriptions and refills, maintaining patient records, compounding medications, operating pharmacy equipment, and managing medication stock levels. The technician will also handle patient interactions, assist with insurance claims and medication assistance programs, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Pharmacy Technician diploma is required.
  • Pharmacy Technician transcripts is required.
  • Valid Florida Pharmacy Technician State License.
  • BLS is required within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, label, and package medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Process prescriptions and refills to maintain complete and accurate patient records.
  • Mix or compound medications as necessary, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment essential for the preparation and dispensing of medications.
  • Monitor medication stock levels to ensure availability, reorder supplies as needed, and help stock shelves by checking expiration dates and quantities on hand.
  • Verify patient eligibility for Medicaid, HCHCP, and other third-party payers.
  • Pull and replace filed prescriptions needing refills and perform other filing tasks as required.
  • Answer phone calls, responding to routine inquiries from physicians, nurses, and patients, and refer more complex questions to the pharmacist.
  • Greet patients, accept prescriptions, and provide basic information regarding medications and pharmacy services.
  • Assist patients with insurance claims, billing issues, and applications for medication assistance programs.
  • Accurately enter prescription and patient data into pharmacy systems, ensuring organized records for prescriptions, transactions, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support the submission of insurance claims and resolve discrepancies with payers.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of medications, including controlled substances, to maintain quality and compliance.
  • Conduct quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) activities, keeping records of statistical data, and alert pharmacists to potential stock shortages or increased usage trends.
  • Assist with drug recall procedures and maintain proper documentation for compliance-related activities.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations governing pharmacy operations.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support the centers.
