About The Position

This PRN (as needed) Pharmacy Technician role involves assisting the pharmacist-in-charge with various tasks including medication preparation and delivery, managing patient accounts for charges and credits, ordering supplies from drug wholesalers, preparing IVs, conducting monthly unit inspections, and performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy. Pharmacy technicians work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist who is responsible for all drug-related tasks. The role requires compliance with facility and pharmacy policies, federal, state, and local laws, and focuses on patient safety and error reduction. Responsibilities include accurately filling and delivering medication orders after pharmacist verification, managing requisition drugs, maintaining appropriate inventory levels, and providing age-appropriate pharmaceutical care within the scope of a pharmacy technician. The position is on a weekend rotation (every 3rd weekend) and provides coverage for vacations and other needs. Requirements

  • Licensure: CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician)
  • Willing to train the right individual.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with facility and pharmacy policies and procedures and all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Accurately and in a timely manner fills medication orders and delivers medications after pharmacist has checked them.
  • Performs aspects of patient care within the scope of a pharmacy technician in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medication errors.
  • Complies with policy and procedures when issuing requisition drugs to other hospital departments. Maintains appropriate records and charges of requisition drugs as directed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Provides pharmaceutical care in age-appropriate manner within the scope of a pharmacy technician.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
