About The Position

Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the computer data entry of prescriptions and filling of patient medication orders including the proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy.

Requirements

  • State Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Minimum one year of pharmacy experience.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the pharmacy as defined by the scope of service to ensure that the unique nature of the patient’s needs are addressed.
  • Assists patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders; may assist with deliveries.
  • Assists patients with updating their pharmacy profile, including demographic, health and insurance information in the computer
  • Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of, and conforming to legal requirements concerning the distribution of drugs, as well as good working knowledge of recent developments in the field of pharmacy (education by attending available conferences, meetings and seminars).
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and proper patient medication profiles.
  • Responsible for interpretation of physician medication orders for accuracy.
  • Enters prescription orders into the computer.
  • Communicates with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorization.
  • Responsible for ensuring the correct dispensing and labeling of medication prior to verification by pharmacist
  • Communicates with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims.
  • At point of sale, verifies that the patient receives correct prescription (s) and offer pharmacist counseling.
  • Assists with periodic medication orders to wholesaler, place orders on shelves, and verifies all associated paperwork.
  • Assists with the pharmacy inventory.
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of the pharmacy, in accordance with local, state, federal, and company regulations.
  • Assists other pharmacy technicians.
  • Maintains knowledge of loss prevention techniques.
  • Keeps up with daily pharmacy staff projects.
  • All other duties as assigned
