Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Able to perform arithmetic calculations including fractions, decimals, multiplication and division

Nice To Haves

National certification by PTCB or NHA preferred
Valid New York State Pharmacy Technician Registration preferred
Two years pharmacy and computer experience preferred
Relevant health care related experience preferred

Responsibilities

Process “missing dose” and continuous infusion next bag requests.
Process morning (24hr) patient specific distribution.
Deliver IVMB to patient specific bins/organize so bags are removed by time.
Review refrigerated medications daily for outdates and short dated medications.
Perform quarterly wipe-down of medication refrigerator interior on assigned units.
Utilize census to move medications appropriately for Admissions, Discharges and Transfers.
Empty tubes/deliver to Pyxis/Medroom/RN (stat and urgent doses).
Return extra tubes to system.
Act as a liaison to pharmacy for missing doses/medication related issues.
Monitor patient own meds and assure proper handling.
Maintain neat and tidy med rooms, including refrigerators on the units covered.
Assist with Pyxis drawer failures, alert patient care services to discrepancies, and load medications.
Appropriately handle incoming phone calls.
Maintain adequate levels of drugs and supplies for assigned area (floor stock par levels, vaccines, etc).
Maintain an adequate level of emergency drug boxes.
Complete daily check of narcotic lock boxes on assigned nursing units.
Perform monthly narcotic inventory in Pyxis cabinets of assigned nursing units.
Assist with Transport Kit/Emergency Kit logs.
Process daily reports accurately and in a timely manner.
