About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacy team in promptly, safely, and accurately filling patient prescriptions while providing caring service to patients and customers. The position helps ensure medication needs are met and regulatory requirements are followed, while maintaining ethical conduct and patient confidentiality. Pharmacy Technicians work in a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment and comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

New Pharmacy Technicians must complete the CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and meet the registration, licensing, and certification requirements established by their state’s Board of Pharmacy. Duties may initially be restricted by a manager until those requirements are satisfied. With further training and experience, technicians can continue developing clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Meet state-specific licensure requirements.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks over time without distraction.
• Customer service orientation, including helping people in a friendly manner and responding appropriately to their reactions.
• Verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues, including active listening.
• Mathematical reasoning, such as calculating a prescription’s days’ supply.
• Problem-resolution skills, including recognizing issues and choosing an appropriate course of action.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• PTCB National Certification.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to help the team fill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
• Provide caring service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
• Help ensure patients’ medication needs and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
• Maintain ethical conduct and protect patient confidentiality.
• Complete the required CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements.
