The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time). Position Overview: The Pharmacy Technician successfully completes the IV sterile technique module including workbook, media fill challenge, and calculations test and maintains competency requirement. They demonstrate knowledge of basic IV technique, IV hood/glove box and understand the USP 797 requirement in IV preparation. They demonstrate the ability to aseptically prepare IVPB, syringes, large volume IV, ADD-Vantage and Add-A-Vial preparations. They demonstrate knowledge and ensure compliance with the laws/rules/regulations governing the labeling of IV vials, syringes, compounded IV products including concentration, beyond-use-dating, storage requirements and initials. They demonstrate competency in using the PARx to fill pyxis stations, pick accurately medications based upon ParX requirements, and refill accurately medications into pyxis stations using scan technology. They demonstrate the ability to load new medications into pyxis and accurately enter the date of the next medication to expire EACH TIME the medication is refilled. They fill medication lists accurately, label drawers with correct patient name and room number, and deliver accurately all medications to correct patient bin in a timely manner. They complete monthly nursing station inspections as assigned, remove all outdated medications, and respond to stock outages immediately. They demonstrate the ability to change pyxis paper, fix drawer jams, and retrieve reports as necessary. They demonstrate the ability to accept employee prescriptions including ensuring completion of associated paperwork, enter accurately prescription into the computer system, fill accurately the prescription, fax prescription and paperwork to Fuld Outpatient Pharmacy and place original paperwork into the transport container, and deliver container to Security Desk timely. They complete accurately the transport log, load checked prescriptions into the transport container, retrieve promptly transport container from Security, unpack container, place prescriptions in alphabetical containers, refrigerator or narcotic bin as applicable. They dispense correct prescription to employee utilizing QS1 signature system and QuickCharge. They demonstrate the ability to access patient profiles and retrieve ADT information. They demonstrate the ability to prepare WORX jobs as needed i.e., fills, labels (IV/PB/SYR) production lists, profiles, etc. They fill accurately medication orders, matching label to doctor's order, and process STAT medications as a priority. They fill crash cart and anesthesia trays accurately and assign expiration dates. They follow good manufacturing practices when unit dosing liquids and solids and comply with expiration date requirements. They deliver controlled substances in accordance with hospital policy, maintain required paperwork, and report any irregularities (discrepancies, etc) to a pharmacist in a timely manner. They assist in the ordering process by using the want book as evidenced by documentation in the want book and demonstrate the ability to order medications from the wholesaler when applicable. They ensure the order is checked-in and put away in a timely manner, especially those requiring refrigeration. They follow the procedure for borrowing and loaning medications with other institutions or retail pharmacies. They assist in reviewing product expiration dates as evidenced by lack of expired medications in the active stock area and assist in returning medications to stock and credit patients appropriately as evidenced by observation of a pharmacist. They stock all areas accurately, as evidenced by lack of errors, and accurately and promptly fill floor stock requisitions and stock for off site locations.
