About The Position

The Retail Pharmacy Technician, under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, will provide timely, accurate, cost-effective, and patient-centric pharmaceutical care. This role involves assisting pharmacists in various tasks related to medication preparation, distribution, and inventory management, as well as handling administrative duties such as insurance claims processing and electronic health record entry.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED (required)
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required)
Six months of experience in a retail pharmacy or a hospital-based ambulatory pharmacy
18 years of age or older with no felony convictions, per Ohio Revised Code 4729.42
Maintains registration throughout the course of employment

Responsibilities

Assist Pharmacists in the retrieval, processing, preparation, and distribution of medications for patient administration.
Accurate preparation of patient medications.
Accurate and timely delivery of patient-specific medications.
Assist with enrollment and processing of Meds2Beds patient medications.
Maintain inventory, medication replenishments, and drug stock.
Assist the Pharmacist with medication or patient care related issues.
Assist the Pharmacist with prior authorizations for medications.
Document the distribution of medication for proper use and reimbursement in accordance with department policy.
Enter information into and retrieving information from an electronic health record or prescription processing computer system.
Insurance claims processing.
