Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • State of Michigan Upon Hire required LIC-Pharmacy Technician Temp - STATE_MI (Must obtain full licensure w/in 90 days of hire)
  • State of Michigan 90 Days required LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • All Pharmacy Technicians from Inpatient or Retail experience backgrounds may apply

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree
  • Hospital experience
  • Full Pharmacy Technician License and/or National Certification, such as PTCB or ExCPT
  • Inpatient Pharmacy and Pyxis experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of a Pharmacist, provides technical assistance, processing and preparing medications and supplies.
  • Works with multiple medication automation systems.
  • Delivers medications and supplies to patient care areas.
  • Triages phone calls and messages from multidisciplinary team members.
  • Able to work in complex pharmacy areas (satellites, sterile product compounding, controlled substance handling, inventory management).
  • Prepares supplies / medication, including complex sterile formulations under the direction of a Pharmacist.
  • May prepare hazardous or biologic products when properly trained and competencies are passed.
  • Prepares and packages bulk medications into unit of use packaging.
  • Handles controlled substances for pharmacy and patient care areas under direct supervision of a pharmacist per federal and state law.
  • Delivers pharmacy prepared medications, controlled substances and supplies to various nursing stations/patient care areas.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications.
  • Completes all Corewell Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.
