About The Position

Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to fill medication orders including oral, injectable, and topical medications, as well as intravenous admixtures. The role also involves assisting in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products, preparing and distributing floor stock items, and maintaining inventory by restocking shelves and checking for outdated drugs. Responsibilities include entering charges and credits into the computer for all dispensed medications and IV admixtures, documenting returned medications, and distributing prepared medications to patient care areas. The technician will perform necessary record-keeping, answer the telephone, assist at the Pharmacy window, and may rotate between hospital and out-patient pharmacy service areas. Maintaining a safe and orderly work area and following appropriate clean room (797) guidelines for IV admixture preparation are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma program or GED.
  • Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program.

Responsibilities

  • Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures.
  • Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products.
  • Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisition forms.
  • Inventories and restocks shelves in immediate work area, checks for outdated drugs.
  • Enters charges and credits into the computer for all medications and IV admixtures dispensed from the Pharmacy, documents all medications and IV solutions returned to the Pharmacy.
  • Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and/or other departments of the Hospital.
  • Performs necessary record keeping functions.
  • Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window.
  • May rotate within hospital and out-patient pharmacy service areas as required.
  • Maintains the work area in a safe, orderly manner.
  • Follows appropriate clean room (797) guidelines in the preparation of intravenous admixtures.
