About The Position

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center, named after two Medal of Honor recipients – Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter – provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across four nursing units: two 60-bed skilled nursing care units, one 40-bed skilled nursing care unit and one 40-bed secure Alzheimer’s dementia unit.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Pharmacy technician licensure by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy or National Certification
• Basic mathematics skills including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measurement.
• Working knowledge of pharmacy information systems
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and make decisions independently and effectively

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) years of prior pharmacy experience preferred.
• Experience as a Pharmacy Tech in a long-term care or adult geriatric setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment such as computers, packing machines, thermal sealers and tablet counters.
• Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices.
