About The Position

The Pharmacy Tech works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists providing a high level of assistance in compounding (sterile and non-sterile preparations), distribution and dispensing of medication and other pharmaceutical related supplies. Assists pharmacy managers or designee in designing, coordinating, and implementing high quality and cost-effective pharmacy technician services. Adheres to all policies and regulations regarding sterile compounding practice. Maintains necessary record-keeping and training documentation pertinent to areas of responsibility. Inspects assigned area(s) monthly for proper storage and labeling of medications and expired medications; completes necessary inspection documentation. Promotes sense of team effort together with pharmacists and technicians. Assists in identifying/researching problems and issues related to department budget and patient billing. Attends educational seminars/in-services to maintain or enhance skills and competencies. Adheres to pharmacy policies, procedures, and objectives; maintains a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Must meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by the clinical area. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Florida Registered Certified Pharmacy Technician license.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation, TB/PPD, Surveillance Program.
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).

Nice To Haves

  • One year of Hospital experience preferred.
  • Sterile and non-sterile compounding experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of automated dispensing/storage technology preferred.
