About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician in Training at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This role involves performing care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. The technician will fill and deliver medications, ensure adequate supplies, triage and escalate issues, use appropriate systems for patient information, maintain quality assurance, and operate pharmacy equipment. The position requires enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program and registration as a pharmacy technician-in-training in the state of practice.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program
• Certification as a technician-in-training within 30 days of hire in the state of practice is required
• Must register as a pharmacy technician-in-training in the state of practice

Responsibilities

• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
